IYT Launches IYT U program
at UC Davis
Sacramento, CA – Improve Your Tomorrow, Inc (IYT) announced the launch of their signature IYT U program at UC Davis during their annual Graduation Celebration following a keynote address from UC Davis Chancellor Gary May this past Saturday.
IYT U – UC Davis is a student success initiative focused on increasing the number of young men of color that graduate on time and are prepared to enter the workforce. The program builds on five pillars: Brotherhood, Scholarship, Community, Mentorship, and Career.
The young men who enroll in the program will receive a campus-based hub, student development opportunities, internships, weekly tutoring, career planning, emergency grants and mentorship, at no cost.
The UC Davis partnership follows the launch of IYT U – Sac State in 2017. Michael Lynch the organization’s CEO described the partnership as a “step forward to ensure young men of color at UC Davis are successful in college and as they transition into the workforce.”
Since 2013, IYT has had an 89% persistence rate compared to the national 59.6% persistence rate for Hispanic students and 52.5% for Black students1.
Currently, IYT serves over 200 college students and dozens more will join when the program launches at UC Davis this fall.
Improve Your Tomorrow is a nonprofit organization working to increase the number of young men of color to attend and graduate from colleges and universities.
