Michael Lynch
Co-Founder and CEO
Michael is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Office of Improve Your Tomorrow, Inc (IYT). As the CEO Michael is responsible for overseeing the organization’s strategic growth, development and vision. Since founding the organization in 2013, he has helped grow IYT to become one of the largest direct service education nonprofits that only serve young men of color in the country. Previously Michael was as a policy advisor for almost six years in the California State Legislature where he was the lead staffer for several issue areas including education, budget and public safety. During his tenure in the Capitol, he staffed dozens of bills, nine of which became law.
Michael received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in management from Humboldt State University and a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Sacramento State. He is a graduate of the California Capitol Fellowship program, the Nehemiah Emerging Leaders Program and the Sierra Health Foundation’s Health Leadership Program. In 2018 he was recognized by the Sacramento Business Journal as a “40 under 40” leader for outstanding professional accomplishments & community involvement. Michael currently serves on the board for the Sacramento California Student Opportunity Access Program (Cal-SOAP) and in board advisory roles for Mentor California and the Elk Grove Unified School District Foundation. He lives in Sacramento and is married to his college sweetheart and has two kids.
