"As a kid, no one expressed an interest in helping me academically nor took the time to help me get into college despite the fact I loved to read and learn. As I grew older, I wondered "How many other young brothers are missing out on higher education opportunities because no one saw greatness in them or expected anything exceptional from them?" As a father of three girls/women, I understand our mothers, wives, and daughters are looking to us (and need us) to provide financial stability as well as physical and emotional safety. Providing this security is dependent upon young men of color avoiding incarceration, learning emotional intelligence, and achieving higher education levels by any means. "
