Sacramento – Improve Your Tomorrow, Inc. is pleased to announce Elijah Miles as their keynote speaker at the 4th Annual Brotherhood Conference, to be held on February 15th, 2020 at Sacramento State.
Miles is a speaker, community organizer, and teacher in Baltimore, MD. He has presented TED talks related to issues affecting his native city of Baltimore. Miles is also the founder of Tendea Family, a grassroots organization that galvanizes young people to revitalize impoverished communities. In addition to his civic engagement, Miles teaches high school classes on morality.
This February, Miles will join an esteemed list of male changemakers of color to keynote IYT’s Annual Brotherhood Conference. Past keynote speakers include: Assembly Member Jones-Sawyer (D59), Council Member Eric Guerra, and former NLF Tight End Julius Thomas.
The 4th Annual Brotherhood Conference will bring together approximately 500 7th through 12th grade young men of color from Sacramento and San Joaquin County. This year’s Conference theme is on developing student identity. Each young man will reflect on the unique backgrounds, experiences, and personalities that make them who they are. By the conclusion of the event, students will be able to write their own story and proudly declare “I AM ________”.
