December in Review: Gratitude & Future Goals

December at Jesse Bethel High School was a time of reflection and celebration. As the pressure of finals week set in, IYT provided a sanctuary for our Brothers to recharge. But even amidst the relaxation, the focus remained on the future. From writing heartfelt letters of gratitude to families to celebrating major college acceptances and perfect GPAs, our Brothers proved that they can finish the semester with both a warm heart and a sharp mind.

Finals Week De-Stress: Recharging the Brotherhood

Brothers participated in a workshop about accountable leadership

Brothers wrapped up the semester on a high note, taking time to relax and recharge during finals week after finishing strong. The IYT space was opened up as a welcoming environment where Brothers could unwind, connect, and enjoy some well-deserved fun together before the break.

College Acceptances Next Stop: University

Big congratulations to Brother Anthony  on his exciting college acceptances! Anthony has been accepted to both Sacramento State and Humboldt State and is currently awaiting decisions from additional schools. This milestone reflects his hard work, dedication, and commitment to his academic goals.

We ended the year with a meaningful Christmas card activity, where Brothers took time to write a special card to a family member. This workshop encouraged reflection, gratitude, and emotional expression, giving them the opportunity to strengthen family connections and practice intentional communication.

MLK Day Service

IYT Bay Area had the pleasure of honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service. We partnered with California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, and the City of Richmond, California to restore Parchester Park in Richmond, CA. The IYT team did painting, gardening and filled the playground with fresh mulch to give the Parchester community a welcoming and safe space. It is with gratitude and pride that I am encouraged to say, "We are always stronger and better when we work together and serve."
