Brothers Visit Sonoma State & UC Berkeley

IYT Brothers and Mentors from Hanshaw Middle School, Weaver Middle School, Stagg High School, and Edison High School went on trips to Sonoma State University and UC Berkeley, where they explored the expansive campuses and connected with school admin to learn about what to expect at each school.

After touring the campuses, the excitement continued for each group as they enjoyed a variety of fun including bowling, playing games at an arcade, or taking in a college basketball game. Capping the day off with these activities was intentional, as members were able to connect with peers from our school sites. Each visit offered a perfect mix of learning, bonding, and memorable experiences for everyone involved!

Our college campus tours are an integral part of IYT programming, and trips like these are a perfect illustration of why. There’s no replacement for the experience of actually being on campus and getting a feel for the atmosphere. By bringing IYT scholars to college campuses and creating the opportunity for them to see and experience things firsthand, it enables them to lower the barrier of entry in their minds, and see that they belong in these spaces.

We’re always seeking new partners at colleges and universities across IYT regions. If you work in higher education and would like to learn how you can organize a campus tour with IYT, please click the link below to get in touch!
