Impact Update: Roosevelt Jr High
Impact Update: Roosevelt Jr. High School, November 2025
November in Review: Leading from Within
This month at Roosevelt Jr. High was defined by vision and accountability. Our IYT Brothers weren't just completing assignments; they were actively building the skills necessary to lead their own academic journeys. From walking the campus of a university to transforming study hall into a hub of collaboration, our students demonstrated that leadership starts with personal responsibility. We are seeing the results of this shift in their grades, their peer interactions, and their growing confidence in what their futures can hold.
College Access: Vision & Reward
IYT Brothers at Roosevelt brought the semester to a close with an exciting college tour at Sonoma State University. On Friday, November 14, 2025, our Brothers joined peers from other Modesto sites to explore the Sonoma State campus. This wasn't just a field trip; it was an opportunity for them to visualize themselves in a collegiate environment and begin mapping out their own paths to higher education.
To celebrate consistent engagement, selected brothers also enjoyed a fun arcade trip—a well-deserved reward recognizing the dedication and growth they have shown throughout the fall semester.
Academic Achievement: Spotlight on Louie Hernandez
Louie has been making impressive strides in his academics and setting a great example for his peers! Over the past few weeks, he has shown consistent engagement, stayed focused during work time, and made a strong effort to turn in homework and complete missing assignments. His hard work and determination reflect significant growth and a strong commitment to his education. We are proud of the leader Louie is becoming.
Brother of the Month: Ezra Coker
IYT Brothers during a recent workshop
Our Brother of the Month is Ezra Coker, who’s being recognized for consistently demonstrating strong leadership in IYT. He arrives at programming on time, stays fully present, and participates actively, setting a positive example through his attitude and engagement. Ezra’s reliability and steady presence is a clear reminder of what it means to embody leadership.
Workshop Spotlight: Brotherhood & Leadership
This month, our programming theme was “From Brotherhood to Leadership,” which focused on guiding students through core concepts of agency and influence. Through interactive workshops like the Trust & Team Relay, and Reflection Circles, IYT Brothers explored what it truly means to lead; communicating clearly, following through on commitments, and showing up for their community, and being a positive example for others.
The impact of the workshop material could be seen clearly in our study halls. Brothers were fully locked in, collaborating to organize materials, helping one another identify missing assignments, and setting goals. Study hall became a structured space where students practiced accountability, and took ownership of their progress.
