New Year, Greater Heights

A Message From Our CEO, Michael Lynch

For many, 2025 was a year unlike any other, and the same can be said for IYT.

We faced a national pushback on diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and navigated a sudden and unexpected AmeriCorps funding cut. Even in the face of these challenges, we experienced incredible growth while still maintaining our high standards of support:

  • We expanded operations to Mississippi, Nevada, and Wisconsin

  • IYT programming was launched in 22 new schools, putting us on track for the academic year to serve over 6,250 young men of color

  • IYT College Academy and IYT Continue to Dream produced a 100% graduation rate for the class of 2025

It’s easy to gloss over data, but these outcomes matter.

They reflect the leadership of the organization, our resilience, and the belief we have in the young men of color we serve. If 2025 was the year of resilience, 2026 will be the year of alignment, intentionality, and raising standards.

At IYT, we work hard to advance the mission. The work we do is deeply meaningful, but demanding, mentally and emotionally. We ask a lot of our team, because the stakes are high and the impact matters. Because of this, we are intentional about ensuring our team is able to rest and recalibrate, to avoid the burnout common in our industry, and continue operating at a high level.

This is a deliberate choice rooted in our values. It’s our way of showing that sustaining the mission requires people who are whole, grounded, and present in their lives. As we begin 2026, I’d like to take a moment to say, this rest was not a detour from the mission. It was in preparation for it.

For us, January is about grounding.

Re-establishing rhythm. Reconnecting with our people. Being present with Brothers, mentors, families, and one another. It’s about making moments count. It means slowing down, looking a Brother in the eyes, and speaking life into him.

“I’m proud of you.”

“I care about you.”

“I’m excited to see who you become, and I’m already proud of who you are.”

Those moments matter. That’s where confidence, belonging, and belief are built.

The outcomes we achieved in 2025 are a clear indication that the seeds we planted along the way are beginning to bear fruit. This progress is real and meaningful, and the work ahead still matters deeply. As for IYT, we’re stepping into this next stretch grounded, aligned, and focused on what’s ahead.

In closing, I’d like to share my gratitude for our team, and the dedicated folks who support and partner with our organization.

Thank you for believing in the mission. And thank you for believing in our Brothers.
