Ray Green, Transformational Leader Joins IYT

IYT Sacramento Welcomes Ray Green as our New Executive Director

April 17, 2025

Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) is proud to announce the appointment of Ray Green as the new Executive Director of our Sacramento Program Region. A longtime partner and champion of IYT, Ray brings over a decade of experience leading equity-driven initiatives that uplift boys and young men of color.

Ray’s commitment to Sacramento’s youth runs deep.

He has spent more than 12 years advancing policies and programs that improve educational, health, and workforce outcomes for marginalized communities. Most recently, as a Program Officer at The Center at Sierra Health Foundation, Ray led a nationally recognized collective impact initiative and secured over $12 million in funding to support young people across the region.

Before that, Ray served as Program Director at Roberts Family Development Center, where he launched one of the nation’s largest Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School programs—empowering young scholars through culturally rooted literacy and enrichment. From city-wide initiatives to national stages, including being a speaker at the Obama Foundation’s Democracy Forum, Ray has continually amplified the voices and needs of boys and young men of color.

Ray’s leadership has earned him recognition like the Sacramento Kings DREAM All-Star Award and the trust of institutional partners such as Sacramento State, UC Davis, and local school districts. He’s been instrumental in building coalitions, influencing policy, and making sure that community-driven solutions remain at the center of change.

Ray is no stranger to the IYT movement.

For over six years, he has worked alongside our team on advocacy campaigns, education conferences, and equity initiatives that have strengthened our impact across the region.

Reflecting on this next chapter, Ray expressed:

“IYT’s bold vision to create transformative opportunities for young men of color is unmatched. I am honored to lead this work in Sacramento and look forward to strengthening our partnerships, expanding opportunities, and ensuring that every IYT Brother has the support to thrive.”

Ray steps into this role at a critical time—bringing with him not only the expertise, but the heart, vision, and lived experience needed to lead with purpose. His appointment signals a new era for IYT Sacramento, one rooted in deep community relationships and an unwavering belief in the potential of our young men.

We’re excited for what’s ahead for IYT Sacramento under Ray’s new leadership. Stay tuned as we continue building brighter futures for Sacramento’s youth.
