IYT & Sutter Health Launch the C.A.R.E. Pathway

IYT and Sutter Health

Building a Healthcare Workforce That Reflects California

California faces a critical healthcare workforce shortage, with communities of color disproportionately underrepresented across the industry. The C.A.R.E. Path — Career Access, Readiness, and Exposure Pathway — is a landmark partnership between Improve Your Tomorrow and Sutter Health designed to change that.

The partnership creates a long-term program pipeline and youth development center for young men of color to explore, train for, and enter healthcare careers, serving IYT scholars as young as sixth grade through college. The partnership represents one of the most significant investments in healthcare career exposure for young men of color in the Sacramento and Central Valley.

Improve Your Tomorrow’s leadership team stand outside the College Success Center, currently under construction.

The C.A.R.E. Path Launch Event

  • Tuesday, April 7th from 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM

  •  IYT College Success Center (1901 Royal. Oaks Dr. Sacramento CA 95815)

On April 7, IYT youth from Sacramento, Stockton, and Modesto will join Sutter Health volunteers and state and city leaders at IYT’s College Success Center for a press conference and community convening marking the official announcement of the C.A.R.E. Path partnership.

The day features a youth-led mental health roundtable, a public partnership announcement, a large-scale health kit build for 750 families, a healthcare career panel, and hands-on career workshops led by Sutter Health professionals. Every element is designed to put young men at the center — as leaders, as voices, and as the future of healthcare in their communities.
