IYT Wisconsin Welcomes Governor Tony Evers

Recently, our Brothers and program team at Verona Area High School hosted Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers for a meaningful conversation about leadership, personal growth, and future aspirations.

The visit began with student introductions, then quickly moved into an engaging discussion where the Brothers shared their reflections on how their experience with IYT has impacted them personally and academically. During the guided conversation, Brothers asked thoughtful and insightful questions related to success, motivation, mentorship, and career pathways. The Governor also experienced elements of IYT culture and Brotherhood, and the event as a whole served as a reflection of the tremendous growth taking place within IYT Wisconsin’s newest school site of Verona High School.

Throughout the event, our IYT Brothers demonstrated professionalism, confidence, and maturity, while highlighting the positive impact of IYT on their lives. They spoke openly about their growth, as well as the challenges that have shaped them along the way.

Aaron Broadwater, IYT Wisconsin’s Associate Program Director, shared his thoughts about the day:

For me personally, the experience was a full-circle moment. From first meeting Governor Evers during my time helping lead multicultural spaces at University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, to now hosting him in a space dedicated to uplifting and mentoring young men through IYT, it was inspiring to see a continued commitment to empowering the next generation of student leaders.
— Aaron Broadwater, Associate Program Director, IYT Wisconsin

Thank you again to Governor Evers, for taking the time to visit with our Brothers and program team. Your presence sends the clear message that these young men and what they have to say, matters. You’re welcome back anytime, and we look forward to more engagements in the future!
