IYT Wisconsin forges new partnerships

Improve Your Tomorrow Wisconsin is proud to announce a new partnership with the African American Opioid Coalition, the African American Health Network, and American Players Theatre (APT).

First, let’s talk about the African American Health Network and African American Opioid Coalition.

The African American Health Network fosters connections among Black professionals and advocates, promotes health education, empowerment, and wellness in Dane County. Its African American Opioid Coalition works to prevent drug harm and improve well-being.

In order to improve the tomorrow of our Brothers, we also have to improve their wellbeing. Educating them on the harm drugs can inflict, both on them and their families, is an important piece of that process, and something that this partnership supports.

Representatives from the African American Health Network will periodically visit our Brothers and speak to them on statistics, quantitative and qualitative data used to support the notion of saying no to drugs and alcohol. The African American Health Network has also ensured Improve Your Tomorrow that they will also be donors and support Improve Your Tomorrow monetarily as well.

Let’s shift focus now to another exciting new partnership, this one with American Players Theatre.

American Players Theatre in Wisconsin

American Players Theatre (APT) in Spring Green, Wisconsin, is a professional repertory theater company widely regarded as one of the best classical theater companies in the United States. Situated on 110 acres of wooded hills, it is the country's second-largest outdoor theater devoted to the classics.

Several of our Brothers have expressed interest in the arts but have no venue to explore their interest. Over the last two years, American Players Theater has conducted more plays than ever related to the struggle, plight and triumphs of people of color. This is yet another way for our Brothers to not only be exposed to the arts, but to our history as well.

American Players Theater has agreed to provide free entry and transportation to the theater on scheduled days as a Brotherhood enrichment activity to see plays relevant to the stories of People of Color.

These two featured partnerships were made possible by dedicated individuals who share our vision and understand that by investing in the future of IYT Brothers, they’re helping ensure a better tomorrow for our community.
