Cooking for Change aims to bring everyone to the table to support the  growth and success of young men of color. 

At IYT, we cultivate a college-bound brotherhood that upholds resilience, authenticity, and passion. To help us illustrate what that looks like for the thousands of brothers we serve, we asked IYT College Academy Brother, Alonzo from Will Rogers Middle school,
what IYT means to him.

How it works:

1. Select your ticket option

Guest Ticket  | (free) 
Includes link to event, eligibility to bid for silent auction items, and chance of winning prizes. 

You don't need the Supper Kit to have a good time! Enjoy good music, prizes, live auctions, and engaging conversations with fellow community members, you won't miss a beet! 

Supper Kit, serves 2 people | Includes featured dish,  link to event, and exclusive eligibility to win prizes.

This option is currently only available to guests that live in the Sacramento, Stockton, and Modesto region. 

Pick Up Option......$50 

Delivery Option.....$65

Supper Kit + Wine, serves 2 | $75 Includes featured dish, 1 bottle of wine from a local producer, link to event, and exclusive Cooking for Change cooking apron (only 20 available!).

2. Securing Your Supper Kits

To ensure maximum freshness, Your supper kits will be available for pick up and delivery during the following days and time. 

Pick up window for supper kits: Wednesday (10/27) and Thursday (10/28) from 5 – 7 PM.

*Location for pick up window IS TBD based on the density of orders but will be optimized for convenience for guests in Sacramento, Stockton, and Modesto.

Silent Auction 

Bidding opens Monday, October 18th at 12PM and will close at the end of the day, Tuesday, November 2nd. 
 

When you participate in the Cooking for Change Silent Auction,  you not only come away with exclusive gifts and experiences, but are directly supporting the programs, services, and people that are working to close the college-opportunity gap for young men of color.

Chef Liesha graduated from culinary school in 1995 in the US Navy. After her enlistment, she became a certified Personal Chef and Master Food Preserver, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition.  

 

Barnett currently serves as an educator for the Edible Schoolyard Project, a non-profit started by Alice Waters (Chez Panisse). Her work with youth in Stockton is multifaceted, she provides cooking lessons that feature local organic produce and plant based recipes to encourage her students to think outside the box. Her curriculum has a holistic focus where mindfulness, curiosity, culture and family are heavily encouraged. By using art, music and food she creates a playful yet informative experience for her students. She is the co-creator of the only completely free weekly organic CSA program in the city of Stockton.

 

Chef Liesha is also the voice behind The Mindful Chef podcast where she discusses food apartheid, diet culture, chef culture, food preservation and more. Barnett continues to operate her personal chef service, providing meal prep and intimate dining experiences. When she's not working, she enjoys gardening, listening to music, riding her bike and spending time with her family.
