"I’m a first generation Murray State University graduate born and raised from KY. My drive and motivation in obtaining higher education stemmed from my parents and the desire to pave a better future for myself. School was difficult for me to navigate in terms of finding a sense of belonging. I was consistently faced with microaggressions, marginalization, and was usually the only black identified student in my classes with little to no support to achieve my goals. Attending college played an integral role in my development and growth and I believe all young people should be afforded that same experience. I have a responsibility to reach back and support young people to ensure that they tap into their full potential and recognize the talents that they possess."
