November in Review: Exposure & Leadership
This month at Cesar Chavez High School was defined by expanding horizons. We moved learning beyond the classroom and onto the campus of one of the top public universities in the world. By connecting our current students with IYT alumni at UC Berkeley, we are not just telling them college is possible; we are showing them exactly what it looks like. Simultaneously, we are celebrating internal leadership, recognizing scholars like Damarion who are stepping up to mentor the next generation of middle school Brothers.
UC Berkeley College Tour
IYT students from Cesar Chavez High School had an incredible opportunity to explore college life at UC Berkeley up close. A total of 22 students participated in this immersive experience, which went far beyond a standard walking tour.
Our Brothers:
Connected with Alumni: They heard inspiring stories and real-world advice from IYT graduates who are currently navigating university life.
Experienced Campus Culture: From enjoying a meal at the dining commons to catching an exciting basketball game, students got a true feel for the undergraduate experience.
Experiences like these are critical to the IYT mission. They help our young scholars envision themselves on a college campus, transforming "college" from an abstract goal into a tangible reality.
Brother of the Month

Damarion McDonald

We are proud to recognize Damarion as our Brother of the Month!
Damarion recently attended the IYT Sneaker Ball Event and is being celebrated for his significant academic improvement. Beyond his grades, he is making a profound impact on our pipeline by inspiring our middle school Brothers at Rio Calaveras. His dedication and leadership make him a powerful role model for the younger students.
Congratulations, Damarion!
