Updated: 2 days ago

December in Review: Leadership & Excellence

December at Black Diamond High School was a month of high standards and high-profile visits. From celebrating a perfect 4.0 GPA to hosting IYT leadership, the message this month was clear: We are here to excel. Brothers engaged with the story of IYT's founding and set the bar high for academic achievement, ending the year inspired and motivated.

Brother Christopher has been an exceptional student and a model of academic excellence. He earned "Student of the Week" honors for his hard work and commitment to his studies. Last quarter, Christopher achieved an impressive 4.0 GPA, reflecting not only his intelligence but also his consistency and determination. His achievements set a high standard for himself and his peers, and we are thrilled to celebrate his outstanding accomplishments.

In December, Brothers explored the concept of "Growth in Action," building persistence and confidence through reflection and goal setting. They explored how effort and mindset shape success and learned strategies to push through setbacks.

The highlight of the month was a special visit from IYT COO Michael Casper, who shared his personal journey and explained why he started IYT. He answered the Brothers’ questions candidly, leaving them inspired by his story and energized to apply these lessons to their own growth.

MLK Day Service

IYT Bay Area had the pleasure of honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service. We partnered with California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, and the City of Richmond, California to restore Parchester Park in Richmond, CA. The IYT team did painting, gardening and filled the playground with fresh mulch to give the Parchester community a welcoming and safe space. It is with gratitude and pride that I am encouraged to say, "We are always stronger and better when we work together and serve."
