IYT Black Diamond Middle School Impact Update: November 2025

November in Review: Community & Celebration

This month at Black Diamond Middle School was defined by celebration—celebrating the gift of life with our quarterly birthday bash and celebrating the growth of our minds during weekly academic check-ins. It was a reminder that brotherhood isn't just about working hard together; it's about enjoying the journey and acknowledging every milestone along the way.

IYT celebrated birthdays for all Brothers born in September, October, and November!

The event was filled with laughter, joy, and camaraderie as the group came together to honor their special days. In the hustle of the school year, pausing to celebrate life is essential. It was a wonderful way to build community, strengthen bonds, and celebrate the unique contributions each Brother brings to the IYT space.

Celebrating Progress, Not Just Perfection

Consistency is key to academic success. Every week, we take time to celebrate the wins and accomplishments of our Brothers, highlighting those who are making noticeable improvements in their grades, attitudes, and academic goals.

By publicly recognizing these achievements—whether it's acing a test or simply turning in missing assignments—we encourage continued growth and motivate the entire cohort to strive for excellence.

Defining Leadership

Leadership Through Dialogue

This month, our curriculum focused on the fundamental question: What does it mean to be a leader?

Based on the deep engagement seen in our sessions, the Brothers didn't just listen to a lecture—they built the definition together. Through small group reflections and large group discussions, students shared their thoughts on the qualities of effective leadership. They debated concepts, shared personal experiences, and reflected on how they can embody leadership traits in the hallways of Black Diamond.

This workshop emphasized that leadership isn't a solo act; it requires communication, collaboration, and the ability to listen to others—skills our Brothers practiced in real-time during these powerful discussions.

Brother Abbas

7th Grade

Brother Abbas has been an outstanding student and one of the most consistent members since joining Black Diamond Middle School.

He engages fully in every part of programming, whether it's an academic session or a community circle. Beyond his participation, he brings a contagious energy and joy that lifts the spirit of the entire room every time we see him.

Way to go, Brother Abbas! Thank you for being a light in our program.
