IYT Hanshaw Middle School Impact Update: December 2025

December in Review: Creativity & Accountability

December at Hanshaw Middle School was defined by a balance of festive relaxation and serious commitment. As we approached the winter break, we created space for our Brothers to unwind and express their creativity through shared holiday traditions. At the same time, we celebrated the quiet leadership that keeps our program strong—recognizing that true brotherhood means showing up for each other and communicating proactively, even during the busy holiday season.

Holiday Spirit: Cookie Decoration & Connection

Brothers got creative while decorating cookies, learning the importance of sharing and being mindful of the limited supplies, so everyone could take part. The activity blended fun, creativity, and teamwork as brothers supported one another and made sure no one was left out.

To spread some holiday cheer, Brothers took part in a festive Cookie Decoration workshop that brought creativity and connection to the forefront. This hands-on activity gave Brothers the chance to relax, express themselves, and enjoy the season together while sharing laughs. Beyond the fun, the workshop created a warm, welcoming environment where everyone could bond, unwind, and celebrate the holiday spirit as a community.

Brother of the Month

Brother Luke, yth grade, at Hanshaw Middle School.

Brother Luke

7th Grade

Luke has been a standout example of commitment and responsibility this month. He consistently shows up to after-school programming, supports his peers, and holds his friends accountable by encouraging them to stay focused. Even when he couldn’t attend, Luke communicated proactively—demonstrating a level of maturity and respect that sets a high bar for the program. His reliability, leadership, and care for his Brothers make him truly deserving of this recognition.
