IYT Hogan Middle School Impact Update: December 2025

Updated: 6 days ago

December in Review: Creativity & Camaraderie

December at Hogan Middle School was all about ending the semester on a high note. As we wrapped up 2025, our focus shifted from the classroom grind to building community through shared joy. Whether it was the friendly rivalry of video game tournaments, the creativity of our holiday challenges, or celebrating perfection in the classroom, our Brothers proved that hard work and having fun go hand in hand.

End of Semester Celebration Competition & Connection

Brothers participated in a workshop about accountable leadership
Brothers enjoying a fun game of 2k, and showing off their skills on the basketball court during open gym–ending the semester with fun, energy and friendly competition.

As the semester came to a close, our Brothers embraced their well-earned break with laughter, camaraderie, and a little friendly competition. From intense basketball matchups to teaming up for video game tournaments, the energy and teamwork were contagious. It was inspiring to see everyone relax, connect, and enjoy each other’s company—ending the semester with full hearts and shared memories.

Holiday Spirit: The Ugly Sweater Challenge

Our Brothers got into the holiday spirit with a fun Ugly Sweater Challenge! Each Brother had the chance to design and color their own festive sweater, putting their creativity on full display. The friendly competition brought lots of laughs, excitement, and camaraderie, with prizes awarded to the most creative designs.

MLK Day Service

IYT Bay Area had the pleasure of honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service. We partnered with California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, and the City of Richmond, California to restore Parchester Park in Richmond, CA. The IYT team did painting, gardening and filled the playground with fresh mulch to give the Parchester community a welcoming and safe space. It is with gratitude and pride that I am encouraged to say, "We are always stronger and better when we work together and serve."
