IYT Martin Luther King Jr. Tech. Academy Impact Update: December 2025

December in Review: Engineering & Excellence

December at MLK Tech was all about "building up"—literally and figuratively. As we closed out the year, our focus was on applying classroom skills to real-world challenges and celebrating the tangible results of hard work. From engineering competitions that reinforced Physical Science concepts to raffles honoring our top scholars, the culture at MLK Tech is one where academic growth and brotherhood go hand in hand.

STEM & Teamwork: The Tower Challenge

This month’s team-building competition had Brothers working together to build the tallest standing tower using only popsicle sticks and tape. The challenge allowed them to utilize the skills they’ve been learning in their Physical Science class while stepping into leadership roles within their groups.

It was a powerful dynamic: older Brothers stepped up to encourage and support the younger students throughout the activity, making it a strong display of cross-grade teamwork and collaboration.

Their achievements reflect dedication, growth, and a serious commitment to academic excellence. Moments like this highlight the power of brotherhood—celebrating hard work, progress, and the wins earned through perseverance.
