Distinguished Nonprofit Leader with Deep Nevada Roots Joins IYT to Expand Opportunities for Young Men of Color Statewide

"Johnny is Nevadan through and through. He leads with both heart and strategy, always putting young people at the center. With deep ties to our community and a proven track record of uplifting the next generation, Improve Your Tomorrow and the youth of our community are lucky to have him leading in this new role." - Sean Parker, co-founder & CEO, Center for the Future of Learning
July 2025 | Las Vegas, NV –Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) is proud to announce the appointment of Johnny Dominguez, M.Ed., as the new Executive Director of our Nevada Program Region. A longtime educator, advocate, and leader in youth-serving organizations, Johnny brings over a decade of experience in college access, nonprofit leadership, and program development focused on educational equity.
This fall, IYT will launch programming at Eldorado High School and Western High School in the Clark County School District, where we will serve 200 young men through 1:1 near-peer mentorship, academic support, and college access services such as advising, free trips to visit colleges across the state, and assistance applying for schools and financial aid.
Johnny’s commitment to Nevada’s young people—especially those from underrepresented communities—runs deep. As Executive Director of Leaders in Training, he led a dynamic team serving over 200 students and families across Las Vegas. Under his leadership, the organization transitioned from a founder-led model to a shared leadership structure and secured over $800,000 in grants and individual contributions during his tenure. His work strengthened community partnerships, streamlined operations, and expanded student access to college and career pathways.

Before that, Johnny held leadership roles at Fulfillment Fund Las Vegas and Q3 Student Partners, where he developed postsecondary success programs, created financial aid workshops for first-gen students, and built initiatives to support affordable housing and mentorship for youth. A first-generation college graduate himself, Johnny holds a Master’s in Higher Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he also designed OHTLI (Our Heritage, The Latino Initiative)—a student success model focused on men of color in higher education as his capstone project.
Johnny’s work has been recognized with the NFL Inspire Change Changemaker Award, and he currently serves on multiple advisory boards, including the UNLV Academic Success Center and ThrivePoint Academy Nevada. He is a proud alumnus of Leadership Las Vegas and SURGE Academy Las Vegas, and has presented nationally on supporting undocumented students and first-gen success in higher education. Reflecting on his new role, Johnny shared:
“IYT’s mission to disrupt the college opportunity gap for young men of color is more than a vision—it’s a movement I’m proud to join. I look forward to expanding IYT’s impact in Nevada and working alongside our school partners, students, and families to build lasting pathways to college, careers, and leadership.”
Johnny joins IYT at a pivotal time as we establish our roots in Southern Nevada. With his strategic mindset, lived experience, and unwavering commitment to youth, we are confident he will lead IYT Nevada into strength and purpose.
