December in Review: Community, Unity, & Action
At George Komure Elementary, we believe that the best way to honor history is to shape the future. This month, our focus shifted outward, moving from the classroom into the neighborhood to demonstrate that true leadership is rooted in service.
MLK Day of Service "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, IYT partnered with the Stockton Service Corps for an inspiring Day of Service focused on community action.
It wasn't a day for resting—it was a day for working. Over 40 IYT members, including both staff and students, mobilized to tackle multiple projects across the community. Brothers worked shoulder-to-shoulder to:
Perform neighborhood clean-ups.
Build and plant new garden beds.
Assemble food boxes for families in need.
Organize and clean essential community equipment.
The day put Dr. King’s message into immediate action, showing our students that meaningful change doesn't happen by accident—it comes from hands-on service and a dedication to making our neighborhoods better, one project at a time.
