Month In Review

This past month at SEED School of Maryland, our brothers envisioned college life on our first-ever tour to UMBC, while we honored leaders on campus by surprising dedicated Jr. Mentors with their official sweaters. This theme of growth culminated in our 8th Grade Celebration, where we celebrated their transition and our pride that all will continue at SEED, with Samuel perfectly embodying this group's potential as IYT's 'Brother of the Year'.

UMBC College Tour

On Tuesday, May 20th, SEED joined Baltimore Collegiate for our first-ever college tour to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Brothers explored the campus and met with key university leaders, including UMBC’s President, Valerie Sheares Ashby, as well as the Director of Athletics, Tiffany D. Tucker. They also had the opportunity to hear firsthand from current students about their college experiences. The visit concluded with a meal in the university dining hall, offering Brothers a chance to dine alongside students, faculty, and alumni. The day wrapped up with a fun and spirited bowling outing at AMF Bowling Alley, building camaraderie with fellow IYT Brothers.

Jr. Mentor Sweater Ceremony & Site Visit

On Thursday, May 22nd, SEED hosted a special Site Visit, welcoming Mr. Joe Manko from the Abell Foundation and Mr. Walden, the school’s College & Career Counselor. In a surprise moment during the student panel, participating Brothers were officially awarded their Jr. Mentor sweaters an honor celebrating their dedication to IYT since its launch at SEED. During the panel, Brothers shared thoughtful reflections on their IYT journey, often highlighting their mentors as their greatest inspiration. The visit concluded with meaningful fellowship, as students and guests discussed future plans and celebrated shared accomplishments.

Our final event of the month was the 8th Grade Celebration held on Thursday, May 29th. The event featured an apple cider toast and heartfelt well-wishes as our 8th Grade Brothers prepared for high school. We’re thrilled to share that all of our Brothers will be continuing at SEED next year! Congratulations, Brothers, we are so proud of your growth and even more excited for all that lies ahead.
