Month in Review: Habits & Leadership

February at Florin High School was all about intentional action and building the foundation for long-term success. From exploring practical strategies for college readiness to celebrating the positive energy of our newest leaders, our young men are stepping up and putting in the work.

Setting Up for Success: Building Habits, Direction & Persistence

Brothers participate in an exercise of building habits, direction, and persistence.
Brothers participate in an exercise of building habits, direction, and persistence.

This month, our IYT Brothers dove into “Building Habits, Direction & Persistence Toward College Readiness,” a workshop focused on practical strategies and personal growth to set themselves up for long-term success. The session heavily emphasized intentional action, self-awareness, and the true power of Brotherhood.

Key Workshop Takeaways:

  • Consistent Action: Brothers learned to build on their existing strengths to develop consistent habits, clear goals, and purposeful action.

  • Emotional Wellness: We focused on self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and viewing help-seeking as a profound strength.

  • Future Pathways: College was explored as a powerful tool to expand access, options, and career opportunities.

  • Community Support: Students learned that long-term success is sustained through persistence, planning, and the power of Brotherhood and community.

  • Holistic Growth: The workshops successfully integrated Identity & Belonging, Wellness, College & Career Readiness, and Leadership through movement, dialogue, and skill-building exercises.
