Month in Review: Redefining Leadership

February at Hogan Middle School was all about character, connection, and redefining what it means to be a leader. From deep conversations about emotional intelligence to celebrating well-earned academic milestones, our young men are proving that true brotherhood is built on both shared experiences and mutual accountability.

IYT kicked off the weekend with an unforgettable Friday Brotherhood Day! Brothers came together for an evening of fellowship, fun, and friendly competition. We shared delicious pizza while bonding over exciting games of NBA 2K, filled with laughter, teamwork, and just the right amount of competitive energy.

Events like this remind us that brotherhood isn’t built solely through service or academics—it grows in the quiet moments, through shared experiences that strengthen connections. It was the perfect way to unwind, build camaraderie, and keep growing stronger together.

Character & Choices: Male Masculinity Workshop

Shaping character and breaking stereotypes: Hogan Middle School Brothers engage in open dialogue about healthy masculinity.
Shaping character and breaking stereotypes: Hogan Middle School Brothers engage in open dialogue about healthy masculinity.

Grounded in IYT’s mission to develop strong leaders, this month’s Male Masculinity Workshop created a meaningful space for Brothers to reflect, engage in dialogue, and grow together. Brothers explored what healthy masculinity looks like by discussing responsibility, emotional intelligence, leadership, and positive self-expression.

Through open conversations, they challenged stereotypes, supported one another, and strengthened their sense of accountability. The workshop reinforced that true masculinity is defined not by stereotypes, but by character, respect, and the choices they make as leaders in their communities.
