Month in Review: Real-World Readiness & Higher Education
February at Inderkum High School was all about looking ahead and preparing our young men for the realities of life after graduation. By exploring local university campuses and diving deep into practical money management, our Brothers are building the exact knowledge and confidence they need to thrive in the real world.
Envisioning the Future: College Tour - Sacramento State
During the month of February, 16 of our Brothers attended our very first college tour of the year, heading over to Sacramento State!
The students toured the campus while gaining vital information about the university and what it has to offer. They also sat in on a highly informative presentation from the Black Honors College, opening their eyes to excellent campus support systems. To cap off a perfect day, the Brothers were able to attend a Sac State basketball game, which they enjoyed immensely!
Real-World Scenarios with SAFE Credit Union
This month, representatives from Safe Credit Union visited to lead a powerful presentation on budgeting finances.
To ensure the lessons were practical and engaging, they ran a scenario-based workshop that allowed our Brothers to build a financial portfolio based on a provided credit score and a specific living situation. This interactive exercise put the students directly into real-world situations, helping them understand the true impact of financial choices, the cost of living, and the importance of planning ahead.
Honoring Hard Work: NUSD IYT Legacy Award Night
February marked the very first NUSD IYT Legacy Award night! During this incredible event, we were able to highlight and award our IYT Brothers for their outstanding effort and engagement in the program.
Alongside the awards ceremony, Safe Credit Union provided a fantastic presentation to the group, giving everyone great insight into budget building and the long-term benefits of maintaining a healthy credit score. Parents were invited to attend as well, and it was wonderful to see them come out to support our Brothers. Overall, it was a fantastic event for the entire community!
