Month in Review: Showcasing Growth
January at Johansen High School was about setting intentions and stepping into leadership. After returning from winter break motivated and ready to work, the Brothers proved that discipline and consistency pave the way for real-world opportunities.
VIP Campus Visit: Stanislaus Community Foundation

The Johansen Brothers welcomed a special visit from the Stanislaus Community Foundation and our district partners, showcasing the true impact of IYT firsthand. During the visit, our partners and funders got to see the Brothers kick off programming with IYT Rituals and "Family Love," and even joined them as they recited the IYT Creed.
Highlight Moment: Following the rituals, we hosted a roundtable led by our Executive Director, Jesus Andrade, and Program Manager, Jessica Bautista. During the discussion, Brothers opened up and shared exactly how the program has strengthened their grades, leadership, and sense of Brotherhood. The day was empowering, highlighting student growth and the strong community built at Johansen.
Academic Readiness: The Spring Semester Kickoff

In January, the Johansen Brothers kicked off the new semester with workshops on Growth Mindset, Self-Management, and SMART GOALS, taking time to reflect on their daily habits and set clear academic targets.
After winter break, the Brothers returned highly motivated and ready to take on the spring semester with focus, organization, and accountability. These sessions reinforced the value of discipline and prepared the Brothers with the tools they need to achieve their goals.
Brother of the Month

Brother Peter
11th Grade
For the month of January, Peter is being recognized for stepping into a massive leadership role through the IYT JR Mentor Fellowship!
Since joining IYT last year, Peter has grown from being a quiet student to actively participating in all workshops and becoming a regular, foundational presence in the Brotherhood. In January, he was officially accepted into the JR Mentor Program—launched through the Men's Service Challenge with the California Volunteer Association. Peter is excited to use this opportunity to strengthen his leadership skills and inspire his peers. Congratulations, Peter!
