Month in Review: Financial Futures & College Pathways

February at Natomas High School was all about preparing our young men for the real world. By exploring local university campuses and diving deep into practical financial literacy, our Brothers are building the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed long after graduation.

During the month of February, 15 of our Brothers attended our first college tour of the year, which took place at Sacramento State!

The students were able to tour the beautiful campus while gaining vital information about the university and its academic offerings. They also enjoyed a special presentation from the Black Honors College, which provided great insight into campus support systems. To top it all off, the Brothers were able to attend a Sac State basketball game, which they enjoyed greatly!

Real-World Readiness: Financial Literacy with SAFE Credit Union

This month, the Safe Credit Union visited our campus to deliver a powerful presentation on budgeting finances.

To make the lessons stick, they ran a scenario-based workshop that allowed our Brothers to build a financial portfolio based on provided credit scores and living situations. This interactive simulation put the students in real-world situations, helping them understand the true impact of their financial choices and the importance of planning ahead.

Honoring Hard Work: NUSD IYT Legacy Award Night

February marked the very first NUSD IYT Legacy Award night! During this special event, we were able to highlight and award our IYT Brothers for their outstanding effort and engagement in the program.

Alongside the awards, Safe Credit Union provided a presentation to the group, offering great insight into budget building and the long-term benefits of maintaining a good credit score. Parents were invited to attend, and they showed up in full force to support the Brothers. Overall, it was a fantastic, community-building event!
