December in Review: Consistency Pays Off

December at Willie Brown Middle School was a celebration of longevity and results. We often talk about "potential," but this month was about "proof." With nearly two dozen students hitting high academic marks and our veteran members leading the way, we are seeing exactly what happens when young men commit to a process over time.

MLK Day Service

IYT Bay Area had the pleasure of honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service. We partnered with California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, and the City of Richmond, California to restore Parchester Park in Richmond, CA. The IYT team did painting, gardening and filled the playground with fresh mulch to give the Parchester community a welcoming and safe space. It is with gratitude and pride that I am encouraged to say, "We are always stronger and better when we work together and serve."

Brother of the Month

Brother Cedric.

Brother Cedric

8th Grade

Brother Cedric is one of San Francisco’s longest-standing IYT members, and he has been making waves since Day One! He started his journey at Willie Brown in 6th grade and is now a leader in 8th grade. Cedric consistently shows up to programming, attends every college tour, and—as seen above—earns Honor Roll recognition for his hard work. It has been rewarding watching Cedric grow over the last three years, and we are highlighting him for the joy and consistency he brings to our program every single day.
