Month in Review: Action & Accountability

January at Roosevelt Jr. High was about movement. Whether it was physical movement during our relay races or academic movement in the grade book, our Brothers focused on the concept that "progress comes from consistent, repeatable moves."

Life Skills: "Small Moves, Real Progress"

We took the session outside to the field this month for a workshop focused on turning big goals into realistic actions. Running a team-based Progress Relay, Brothers worked together to build a step-by-step “action chain.” Each Brother contributed one manageable next step, reinforcing that success doesn't come from one huge leap, but from many small steps.

Highlight Moment: Instead of vague goals like “I’m going to get my grades up,” we heard specific moves like:

  • “Check my missing assignments before I leave school.”

  • “Ask my teacher one question after class.”

  • “Spend 15 minutes on math before gaming.”

Brotherhood Friday: Pizza & Connection

Roosevelt Brothers ended the week strong with a Brotherhood Friday Pizza Party filled with laughs and positive energy. Brothers showed up ready to build community, jumping into a fun icebreaker where they learned new things about one another. After that, we shared pizza and spent time bonding through friendly competition. It was a great way to celebrate the week and keep our culture strong.

Academic Achievement: Geovanni

The AVID All-Star Geovanni is earning an Academic Spotlight for the way he’s been showing up in Study Hall. He consistently checks his progress and puts in the work to stay on top of assignments. Right now, his focus is paying off: he is holding strong A’s in several classes, including AVID, Pre-Algebra, and World History! We love seeing him take ownership of his academics. Keep going, Geovanni!
