Month in Review: Building the Engine

February at Black Diamond was about building the internal engine that drives success. We moved past the idea of "getting inspired" and focused on the real work of "staying consistent." Through interactive workshops and incredible student examples, the Brotherhood is learning that success isn't a sprint—it's a steady climb.

Life Skills: Consistency vs. Motivation

Black Diamond Brothers participate in a movement-based challenge, learning that consistency and direction matter more than temporary motivation.
Black Diamond Brothers participate in a movement-based challenge, learning that consistency and direction matter more than temporary motivation.

This past month was all about building discipline, consistency, and direction. IYT Brothers took part in a series of interactive workshops focused on everyday habits. Through guided discussions, they explored how effort in areas such as sports, work, and family responsibilities can translate into academic success.

Key Takeaways:

  • Consistency > Motivation: Why showing up every day matters more than feeling "hyped."

  • Direction > Pressure: How to choose a path rather than succumbing to stress.

  • Action Steps: Hands-on activities pushed Brothers to identify small, realistic actions they can take to stay committed when things get tough.

Academic Achievement: Finishing Strong

Brother Ahmaad
Brother Ahmaad

Big wins and proud moments this month! Brother Ahmaad continues to shine academically, currently maintaining an impressive 4.0 GPA. Ahmaad consistently puts in the effort across all of his classes, remaining focused on his goals. In fact, he is on track to graduate in March! His discipline and perseverance truly stand out, and we are excited to celebrate his success as he prepares for all that lies ahead.

MLK Day Service

IYT Bay Area had the pleasure of honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service. We partnered with California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, and the City of Richmond, California to restore Parchester Park in Richmond, CA. The IYT team did painting, gardening and filled the playground with fresh mulch to give the Parchester community a welcoming and safe space. It is with gratitude and pride that I am encouraged to say, "We are always stronger and better when we work together and serve."
