December in Review: High Standards & High Profiles

December at Aptos Middle School was a showcase of what happens when preparation meets opportunity. From hosting the organization’s leadership to dominating the Honor Roll list, our Brothers proved that they are ready for the spotlight.

Excitement filled the room last month as Aptos welcomed IYT Founder Michael Lynch and our partners from Tipping Point. A select group of Brothers sat down for an intimate lunch and a Brotherhood Round Table. It wasn't just a meet-and-greet; it was a moment of reflection. Students shared what IYT has meant to them, discussing the guidance they’ve received over the past two years. It was a powerful reminder that our partners aren't just funding a program—they are fueling real stories of growth.

We are thrilled to celebrate 19 IYT Brothers who completed last semester with Honor Roll status! These students showed dedication, focus, and hard work, utilizing the IYT space to get homework done and cheer each other on.

The Honor Roll Roster:

  • Kamaud Bell, Xander Mckeown, Alan Cuiriz, Ethan Garcia

  • Kingston Dumont, Darius Gray, Oscar Vicente, Jalil Woodward

  • Landon Cauich-Hernandez, Marquis Johnson, Sebri Mohammad, Tyler Ferraro

  • David Hinh, Dylan Smith, Hassan Woodward, Paul Figeroa

  • Jordan Mcdonald, Adonis Mitchell, Sir Eric Williams

Keep shining, Brothers—your hard work is setting the bar high for everyone!

MLK Day Service

IYT Bay Area had the pleasure of honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service. We partnered with California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, and the City of Richmond, California to restore Parchester Park in Richmond, CA. The IYT team did painting, gardening and filled the playground with fresh mulch to give the Parchester community a welcoming and safe space. It is with gratitude and pride that I am encouraged to say, "We are always stronger and better when we work together and serve."

Brother of the Month

Brother Dylan.

6th Grade

The Recruiter & The Comedian This month, we are excited to recognize Dylan Smith! Dylan brings a necessary balance to our space: he keeps the mood light with humor during breaks, but locks in and completes his assignments during study hall. What makes Dylan a true leader is his inclusivity—he has even invited non-IYT friends to join programming so they can stay on track, too. Thank you, Dylan, for showing teamwork, kindness, and leadership every day!
