Month in Review: Stanford Explorations & Well-Rounded Scholars

March at Willie Brown Middle School was all about exploring top-tier universities and developing the habits of highly successful students. By engaging with college mentors and locking in during study hall, our Brothers are building a powerful foundation for the future.

Envisioning Excellence: Stanford University Campus Tour

On March 6th, IYT students had the exciting opportunity to explore the campus of Stanford University!

Students were warmly welcomed by members of the Stanford Black Student Union, who led a comprehensive campus tour and shared their authentic experiences as students of color at Stanford during an engaging panel discussion.

Students also had the chance to visit Casa Zapata, Stanford’s Latinidad-themed residential community. There, they toured the dorms and dining hall while learning about the supportive cultural spaces available on campus. One of the major highlights for many students was visiting the Cantor Arts Center, where they explored a wide range of artwork and historical exhibits.

Reminder: Our next college tour will be to Saint Mary's College of California on May 15th! If you would like your child to attend, please reach out to Ms. Kayla for more information.

Brother of the Month

Brother Jude, 7th Grader from Willie Brown Middle School.

Brother Jude

7th Grade

We chose Brother Jude as our Brother of the Month because he is one of the most well-rounded Brothers we have in the program!

Brother Jude earns an honor roll GPA and holds himself to incredibly high standards. He expresses his creativity through design and music, and he has set strong goals of becoming an entrepreneur. Brother Jude has attended every single college tour since 6th grade, regularly attends after-school programming, and consistently locks in during study hall.

He is an outstanding example to other students of what it truly means to be "in it to win it."
