These milestones reinforce our commitment to advocacy, sustainability, and deepening our impact on young men of color across the state.
Leadership Spotlight: A Legacy of Service

Korbey White Honored with Urban League President's Award
On October 10, 2025, IYT Wisconsin Executive Director Korbey White received the prestigious Urban League of Greater Madison President's Award.
This honor recognizes Korbey’s unwavering dedication to serving marginalized communities, his fierce advocacy for Black and Brown people, and his four decades of work addressing long-standing health and educational disparities in Wisconsin. This award is not just a personal achievement, but a testament to the leadership driving IYT’s mission forward in the region. Please join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement!
Strategic Growth: The Year of the Kid
Unlocking New Opportunities with Governor Evers’ Grant Program
Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Office of Violence Prevention have launched a new $10 million grant program aimed at reducing crime and violence while keeping families safe. This initiative follows the Governor’s declaration of 2025 as “The Year of the Kid,” reinforcing a statewide commitment to youth safety.
“As a father and a grandfather who’s also a governor, I will never accept violence as a foregone reality or stop working to change it.” — Governor Tony Evers
IYT Action Plan: IYT Wisconsin has established a new partnership with the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) to pursue this grant opportunity. We are actively inviting additional school districts to collaborate with us and be part of this impactful work to secure vital resources for our Brothers.
Partner & Board Spotlights
New Partner: MWH Law Group

We are extremely excited to announce our new partnership with MWH Law Group, a certified minority-owned firm with offices across the Midwest and New York. By harnessing the diverse backgrounds of their attorneys, MWH brings a broader, more inclusive perspective to their work. We are proud to align with a firm that mirrors our values of excellence and diversity.
Board Member Recognition: Dr. Alvin Thomas

We are proud to recognize Dr. Alvin Thomas, a tenured professor at UW-Madison and a nationally respected scholar on Black fatherhood, who serves on the IYT Board of Advisors. Dr. Thomas recently became the first man in the 40-year history of the Center for the Education of Women to receive their Graduate Scholarship. We are deeply grateful for his generous donation and continued guidance, which helps our Brothers grow into the leaders they already are.
Program Spotlight: Madison Metropolitan School District
Curriculum in Action: Failing Forward

In our latest workshops at MMSD, Brothers tackled the concept of "Failing Forward."
The session focused on a powerful truth: without trying—and sometimes failing—there is no opportunity to learn. Brothers quickly grasped that mistakes are not setbacks, but essential steps toward progress. By reframing failure as a learning tool, we are building the resilience and confidence necessary for long-term academic and personal success.
